Why?

[Well, at least he doesn't seem angry? Although he's certainly kind of upset. He's shaking it off fairly quickly, though - when you start in Human Relations, they teach you about what human pain feels like, and the lessons go a lot harder than a punch to the gut.]

[Michael looks a tad quizzical; it didn't sound all that weird and creepy to him. It wouldn't be an odd thing to say in Hell, at least...which probably does make it weird and creepy.]

They build them tough in terms of function - I'm not going to be taken out by a beating very easily. But part of why we take these forms is to learn how human pain works. Things have to hurt.

You are a strange one. Then again, I suppose if anyone here is intimate with the workings of mortality, it would be the afterlife guy, wouldn't it?

I don't know about that. Never been mortal before, myself. But I've had a body or two get destroyed - I'll be alright.
